I can’t believe that my oldest baby girl will be 3 in less than a week! Our little “Lana Bear” as her daddy affectionately calls her is such a sweet, independent and smart little babe. We feel lucky every day to be her parents! This girl made me a mommy and while she can be a challenge, it’s one that I will gladly take on for the rest of my life. Birthdays are a big deal in this family. It’s important to me to show these girls how special they are and also for our guests to have a great time!
We had Lana’s first birthday party at a local pizza place where we could fit all of our favorite people- there are many! I’m a big believer that every party should have a theme. I decided on pink and gold as the theme for Lana’s birthday party because I wanted something sweet, girly and a touch classy. My favorite part of the decor was the adorable video I made of her first year of life that we all watched on a huge screen. I still cry every time I watch it to this day! During this party I was heavily pregnant with Roslyn…she was only a couple of months from being born, but I was determined to make Lana’s day extra special! I love decorating so I knew I wanted to go all out!
Most of the candy bowls and the strawberry stand I made myself by finding cheap clear candlesticks and glass bowls/china plates at goodwill and then gluing them together. I printed some of my favorite photos of Lana and put them in cute frames for the candy/cake table. The fabrics used were not actually tablecloths, I simply bought swatches of fabric at Jo-Anne’s to add extra drama to the table and to make the backdrop. The party favors were strawberry flavored popcorn balls from a local shop called Just Pop’d and they were delicious!
I loved Lana’s sign commemorating her favorite things and stats for the year. I found a place on Etsy who made the design (there are tons of shops that make these!) and printed this at Costco for only $8 with a coupon! She wasn’t too sure about her cake, but she eventually dove in and enjoyed the sweetness!

I know she won’t remember this party, but at least she will have these lovely photos to look back on someday and she will know that her mommy tried hard to make her have the best 1st birthday ever!
